IN FOUR YEARS, MORE THAN 70 YOUTH HAVE ENTERED THE SAFE HARBOR YOUTH TRANSITIONAL LIVING PROGRAM. ONLY ONCE HAS A YOUTH LEFT THE PROGRAM TO RETURN TO THE STREETS. 99% IS A SUCCESS RATE WORTH SUPPORTING AND CELEBRATING.

Safe Harbor Youth is a place for at-risk youth to live, learn, and grow into mature, productive adults with the promise of a healthy and productive future. Our Transitional Living Program is for youth, ages 16-22, who have runaway from home, are neglected, homeless, living on the streets, or victims of human trafficking. The program name means resiliency, new life, and new beginnings. And that is what Safe Harbor Youth is to its residents. It is a chance for them to live in a safe, nurturing environment; complete their education, learn needed life skills ; and grow to become productive, self-sufficient adults.

Residents at Safe Harbor Youth have arrived at a point of life transition and need help getting themselves to the next life step. They come to the program with diverse backgrounds, life experiences, and needs, including unstable family living conditions; homelessness; loss of a job; or negative circumstances leaving them with nowhere to turn.

The program offers a variety of services to help each youth obtain the skills they need to go on to live independent and productive lives. Residents learn social, living, work, and home skills to prepare them for their future independence. They are given assistance in finishing their education and finding employment. By setting expectations of accountability, action, house responsibilities, and personal growth initiatives, Safe Harbor Youth helps foster an environment of excellence and individual productivity.

In the four years of the program’s existence, over 70 youth have entered the transitional living program. Of these 70 youth, only one youth left the program to go back to the streets.

This amazing track record of success is due in part to the quality of care and love they receive from all the highly trained, professional staff at Safe Harbor Youth. The nurturing environment and helpful atmosphere aids in each youth’s successful re-entry into adulthood.

The Safe Place Program
Safe Harbor Youth also administers the Safe Place program in North Alabama. Youth can walk into any business displaying the Safe Place sign and ask for help. The business site then calls the Safe Place Hotline and help is on its way to transport the youth to the shelter for services.
